Hey-hey! It's almost the weekend! Here's some recent pics of the happenings around our house. We got another round of snow and finally watched Frozen.

Happy weekend!

A Snow Day In March?!?!?

Yep, we got almost 11 inches of snow in the middle of March.

We had a good time playing inside and outside during the storm.

Don't mind us, we'll be in our pjs all day!

Even Charlie got in on the snow action. By the time we got outside it was starting to melt. I don't expect the snow to stick around for long.

I hate to say it, because I'm a big winter fan, but I'm ready for spring! Good thing because it's (supposedly) right around the corner!

How We Really Spent St. Paddy's Day

We had an extremely low-key St. Patrick's Day this year. I changed my mind on the menu and we ended up having Colcannon, which is a simple dish that is very easy to make and get on the table quickly. I didn't give any to the twins though, because I was unsure of how the cabbage would sit in their stomachs.

I gathered all of my ingredients and got to work while the little guys at my house rolled around the ground and played pirates.

The most difficult part was peeling the potatoes, which was made very quick with a veggie peeler. I didn't have peppercorns, so I substituted plain pepper.

Feel free to add up to a whole head of cabbage. I will say that this made quite a few dirty dishes, but all were easily thrown in the dishwasher, nothing needed scrubbing.

Don't fret if you don't have green onions. While it gave the recipe a pop, it's not make-or-break if you leave them out. This recipe seems to be very flexible.

I served this with apples to round it out, but I truly could have eaten this alone and been a happy girl. Even our two year old gobbled it up!

Really, all you need is a pint of Guinness and you're set for your St. Patrick's Day meal. I think I might add this in to our regular meal rotation!

Saint Patrick's Day 2014

Happy St. Patrick's Day! While this year might be a bit calmer than in years past, we'll still celebrate with a Guinness and Martha's beef hand pie.

Oh Martha, you know what I like.

Let's take a little trip down memory lane to 2012. Here's Jake before we ventured out for the day.

And on our trip to Ireland in 2009. A pre-kid vacation!

Outside the Guinness factory. Sorry for the blurry photos, they're quite a few years old and from a crappy camera.

Dinner at Howth. We ate delicious, fresh mussels and got wind blown on the dock. It was fabulous.

I have matching outfits for the boys, I hope to get some pics up soon.

The Big Painting Adventure

To say that we're painting virgins is pretty close to the truth. A few months back we did buy a gallon of paint on the "mistakes" rack at our local Home Depot and we painted our half bath on the main level of our house. It took us the whole weekend to paint and we learned lots of first-timer lessons. We really liked the outcome though and it felt good to start making the walls our own.

It's a gray-blue color which was custom mixed for someone who didn't end up actually buying it. Don't mind the mess in the bathroom. We're potty training this weekend and it's crazy in there!

We're gearing up to paint the entire main level though, and I think we're going to hire someone as it's pretty hard to find a few hours to paint with three under three at our house. Here are the colors we've tried out on our walls so far:

The far left is Behr Gentle Rain, the middle is Martha Stewart Driftwood Gray and the right is Martha's Cement Gray. We've already decided the Behr isn't for us, it's a little too light and purple, so it's between the other two. I also want to try a couple more colors before I commit. So we're living with it and trying to make some decisions.

Everyone's home today as the snow is just pouring down right now. I love winter, but I know I'm pretty much in the minority.

Yay snow!!
